About Curver Knit Collection

Curver, part of the Keter Group, unveiled the Knit Collection in Summer 2015. The collection is inspired by the art and nostalgia of knitted textiles. Curver is embracing the trend for knitted textures and craftsmanship, combining it with the everyday, functional qualities of resin material.

This innovation of deep-texture injection method has been developed following the success of the rattan-look series, which upon its introduction five years ago by the Keter Group, established the emotional plastic category by applying a woven look to outdoor furniture.

The Curver design lab carefully studied traditional knitting techniques, learning how to create an impression of authentic knitted fabrics in resin based products. With endless patience and attention to the finest details, all segments were woven together with precision and stitches were knitted into a new design language.

The Knit Collection colour palette reflects the soothing warmth of traditional knitted items and is designed to inspire a new sense of confidence amongst consumers, encouraging bolder colour choices across interiors and homewares. The new color palette combines dusky in-between shades with earth tones and bright retro colors. Neutral tones like Oasis-White, Harvest Brown, and Cloudy Grey can be found alongside vivid shades like Twilight Purple, Misty Blue, Citrus Green, and Clay. This fashionable spectrum of warm and cool colors matches the blend of vintage and modern design that the Knit collection represents.

The collection features an array of both indoor and outdoor furniture and accessories, including seating poufs, pet beds, planters, laundry hampers, baskets, shopping & leisure bags. The entire line has several international design registrations and patent applications.

As part of the European launch of the Knit Collection in September 2015, Curver collaborated with the London based design studio FranklinTill and exhibited the Knit Collection during London Design Festival. The design-led colour-inspired 5-storey staircase installation and Press Room positioned Curver’s innovative 3-D design within the context of emerging colour trends. The stairwell installation featured items suspended from the ceiling – outdoor/indoor furniture and accessories, including poufs, stools, tables, baskets, and planters – in a playful and colourful interaction of product, background and lighting. The Press Room display was a main still-life set alongside a number of colourful mini still-life compositions of the products, inspiring visitors with creative ideas.

In designing the two-part installation, design studio FranklinTill took inspiration from the everyday functionality of plastic to create a concept in which visitors experienced the specially curated collection in a vibrant and colourful environment. In addition, the studio produced an insight trend booklet for the visitors that further tells the story of the knit trend revival. You may find the booklet here.
